NIKKI Anderson's story proves that no-one should ever give up hope. In her case the battle with cancer had come to dominate her life. And any expectations she had of having more children had been abandoned.
Far from being defeatist she was simply being pragmatic, dealing with the situation life had presented and wisely steering clear of day dreaming.
She knew that chemotherapy would reduce her chances of conceiving.

But sometimes life has a way of delivering pleasant surprises even when things have been very difficult.
And so for her Mother's Day this year will particularly poignant. For despite the odds she can look forward to becoming a mum again.
She knows her condition is extremely rare and nothing is certain.
But then the future is uncertain for everyone.
Nikki, however, knows more than most of us that even when the odds seem to be going against you things can change for the better.
And she is clearly one of those remarkable people who refuses to give in, someone who keeps fighting and who has been rewarded. In that there is a lesson for us all.
