Dundee United may turn to ex-Bristol City boss Derek McInnes
Former Bristol City boss Derek McInnes could be back in work sooner than expected.
Dundee United today gave Blackpool permission to speak to manager Peter Houston about the vacancy at Bloomfield Road – less than 48 hours after Mcinnes parted company with City.
Houston is expected to be named successor to Michael Appleton, who left Blackpool to join Blackburn Rovers at the end of last week.
His departure would leave the Tangerines seeking a new manager and McInnes, a former Dundee United player, is on the Tanadice club's radar.

Houston, who has helped the Tangerines lift the Scottish Cup and qualify for Europe three seasons running since arriving in 2009, is out of contract at the end of the season.
Blackpool turned their attention to the Tannadice boss after a move for Bradford boss Phil Parkinson was blocked.
A Dundee Unitedspokesperson confirmed: "The club have granted Blackpool permission to contact Peter Houston.
"That's on the basis that, as a football club, we won't stand in the way of anyone furthering their career."

“If this saves us on Compo for Del & Doc that'll saves us about £350-400k.
Happ days and if he can take the players that RE has listed then I may have a bounce around the lounge!”

“Great news for Del and City , maybe he will come looking for all his backroom staff and City can strike a deal , even if it means no compo either way.”
