A Kingsdown man who got drunk and became aggressive in the street after being released from prison has been given a 12-month conditional discharge.

Marc Hill, 27, of Jamaica Street, pleaded guilty to being drunk in a public place when he appeared before Bristol Magistrates' Court.

Crown Prosecutor Kirsty Allman said police were called to Lower Maudlin Street at 3.10pm on November 27 to help an ambulance crew deal with an aggressive Hill.

Magistrates were told Hill was unable to stand up unaided, unable to respond to questions and repeatedly said "hello" to officers. He then urinated on the street before being arrested.

Defending himself, Hill, formerly of Radstock, said: "I'm sorry for what happened."
