Drug addict jailed for stealing bikes from Bristol flat
A drug addict burglar who smashed his way into Bristol flats with an accomplice and stole two bikes has been jailed for two years and eight months.
Shane Clark forced the door to the flats in Ashley Road, St Paul's.
A resident in the garden saw Clark, 33, of Kingsley Road, St Philips, and his partner in crime, who was not named, riding off on bikes belonging to a couple in one of the flats.
He was arrested after footprints at the scene were matched his, and he pleaded guilty to burglary at Bristol Crown Court.
He also admitted shoplifting twice at Asda in Oaklands Avenue and once at a Tesco store in the city, and was jailed for two years and eight months.
The court heard that Clark had previous convictions for burglary, shoplifting and possessing a bladed article and his latest offending put him in breach of a 12-month community order for burglary.
Ian Dixey, defending, said Clark had been on drugs for many years and accepted that he should try and get clean in custody.
Sentencing Clark at Bristol Crown Court, Recorder Mr Donald Tait told him there was no alternative to jail.
