With regard to the problems that Mr and Mrs Bradburn had with Wessex Connect, I would also wish to point out to Wessex Connect that from Severn Beach, Beach Avenue eastern end and Redwick, Kings Arms, the service is a 'hail and ride' service. So anyone between those stops can put out their arm and get on the bus.

I just wonder how many of the drivers know that it is printed on the back of the timetable.

Regarding the 7.5 weight limit at Hallen, this was put on by the Highways Agency at the request of many for most of the roads that would be affected by heavy traffic at the time of building the second Severn crossing. The B4055/B4056 from J17 down through Easter Compton, Pilning and Severn Beach. The road from Aust roundabout to Marlwood and roads through to Pilning Street, Northwick, Redwick all have the weight limit. At the completion of the building of the SSC, the Highways Agency kept the weight limit as a permanent item at the request of residents. I do agree however that the 'pinch point' should have been removed.

Regarding the proposal of closing the Portway every Sunday, this is the main route for us that live in South Gloucestershire to get into Bristol. There is no park and ride on a Sunday and of course the train stops at Avonmouth on a Sunday. Ah well, sorry Cabot Circus, we will just have to go up to The Mall instead.

Mrs Frances Barr, MBE,

Severn Beach.
