A driver had a lucky escape earlier today after a road traffic collision in Bristol left his cement mixer hanging over a steep drop to a river.

The mixer was travelling along Clarence Road in Redcliffe when it crashed through two barriers between the road and the river, before coming to rest with one of its front wheels hanging over a drop of several metres to the water below.

Firefighters were called to the incident – in which a Renault Clio was also involved – at around 9.30 this morning.

Crews from Temple Fire Station secured the vehicle to ensure it didn’t fall into the river before waiting for a roadside recovery team to arrive.

“How about the Clio was driven by a boy racer and cut up the cement mixer? Stop making stereotypical assumptions and let the offical investigation determine who was to blame.”

“Where are the traffic wardens? Parking on the pavement, parking on zig zag lines, damaging street furniture, driving on the wrong side of the road....”

“Looks like a front wheel went over not front WHEELS , i think the out come would have be much more serious if it was wheels,”

“I bet the cement truck was bullying his way around the roads and the clio unexpectedly stood his ground. Doesnt seem too far fetched, does it?”

“Could be a photoshop job for all I know, until someone provides concrete evidence I dont believe it.
Anyway in the original film he was only supposed to blow the bloody doors off, sequels are never as good, obviously theres been some kind of mix- up and someones lost the plot.”

“There is a pedestrian crossing at this point and Just opposite a nursery and secondary school - thankfully no one was hurt! The Avon here at Bedminster bridge has enough rubbish in it and they'd never get out all the bicycles/shopping trolleys is covered in cement - mind you they don't seem to try anyway!”

“Reminds me of the Italian Job, were they stealing cement? Was a the driver a hardened criminal? A physicist would tell you that there appears to be little risk of the lorry toppling over.”
