YOUNGSTERS dressed up as characters from the stage and screen for a fancy dress parade to mark the 100th birthday of Clevedon's Curzon Cinema.

Around 70 people took part in the parade which went from the bandstand, along the seafront and Salthouse Fields to the picture house.

Characters from The Wizard of Oz joined Edward Scissorhands, Charlie Chaplin and Cruella de Ville for the procession.

People involved in the parade then watched a special screening of The Wizard of Oz and were joined by other film-goers, also in fancy dress.

Curzon director Gareth Negus said: "The parade was a great way to celebrate the Curzon's 100th birthday and we were delighted to see so many people take part, especially at the same time as the Wimbledon final.

"Those who didn't take part in the parade also made an effort and dressed up to watch the film."
