Dozens of recycling collections missed due to bad weather

RECYCLING collections in nearly 40 streets across North Somerset have been missed due to the bad weather.

Collections have disrupted in 38 streets across the district after crews were unable to access certain road due to snowy and icy conditions.

Roadside collections are taking place as normal today but council bosses have warned there may be small scale disruption to minor roads affected by snow and ice.

Areas affected include Portishead, Dundry, Failand, Winford  and Long Ashton.

A council spokesman said: "These collections have been missed because crews are not able to safely collect.

"People do not need to report a missed collection.

"Homeowners should take their recycling back in and put it out on your next collection day.

"People should leave their wheeled bin or council-issued sacks out and we will collect them as soon as possible."
