Dorette shuts up shop after 21 years
A woman has said goodbye to her colleagues and customers at the shop she worked in for 21 years.
Dorrette Downes started working in the Tesco Express in Lodge Causeway in 1988, when it was a JCR store. It was her first job after coming to Bristol from Jamaica in 1984.

The shop has changed names several times since she started work there, but many of her colleagues have remained the same.
Mrs Downes, 45, who also works as a senior nursing auxiliary on ward 25 at Frenchay Hospital, is leaving the shop to spend more time in that role.
Balloons were put up in the store when Mrs Downes came in for her last shift, and she was presented with flowers and a chocolate cake.
Mrs Downes said: "One of the customers was waiting for me when I got in with flowers and then everyone else surprised me. I am going to miss the girls and all our regular customers. We are almost like family.
"It was very emotional when we were locking up for the last time.
"It was my first job when I came to this country, so it means a lot to me."
Linda Jowett has worked with Mrs Downes for two decades. She said: "I have worked with Dorette for 21 years after we started at the same time. We all get on and go out after work."
Chantel Thornell said: "I have worked with Dorrette since I started in 2005 and it has been a pleasure."
