Dorchester Town compete in the first round of the FA Cup for the first time since their trip to Wigan Athletic's JJB Stadium in 2000.

Five years earlier, The Magpies met today's opponents, Oxford United, in the same round. The biggest cheer at the Manor Ground that day came when Tommy Killick scored a consolation penalty for Dorchester, who were beaten 9-1.

Oxford have dropped two divisions and moved grounds since, and now play in the Blue Square Premier, one league above the Magpies.

Dorchester boss Shaun Brooks said: "The last time the two played, when Stuart Morgan was in charge, Dorchester had a decimated side and the gulf in terms of league positions was huge. It's not like that now so I'd like to think it will be a much closer game."

Dorchester are chasing a place in the hat for tomorrow's second-round draw for the first time in 27 years.

They last last reached the second stage in 1981, when victory over Minehead in a first-round replay set up a tie with Bournemouth, which also went to a replay before the Cherries won 2-1.

Dorchester earned today's trip to the Kassam Stadium after overcoming Bishop's Stortford 1-0 at the Jewson Stadium, while Oxford saw off another Blue Square South outfit, Hayes & Yeading, 2-0 at home.

The Magpies followed up their cup success with a 2-0 away league win at Bishop's Stortford last Saturday and are boosted by the return of defender Gary Bowles from suspension and midfielder Tom Mitchell from injury.

Dorchester (from): Stewart, Coward, Jermyn, Marsh-Brown. Clay, Hill, Bowles, Liburd, Crittenden, Watts, Moss, Mudge, Gleeson, Nicholson, Mitchell, Browne, Peprah-Annan, Critchell.
