Dorchester Town 0 Hampton & Richmond Borough 1

Both sides carved out 15 chances each in an entertaining encounter at the Jewson Stadium, but it was a single Lawrence Yaku strike four minutes after the break that clinched the points for Blue Square South title contenders Hampton & Richmond.

The result leaves the Magpies locked in a relegation battle with Thurrock who lost by the same score at Basingstoke.

Improving Dorchester again dominated the first half, with the lively Jacob Erskine coming within inches of connecting with a seventh-minute Nick Crittenden centre.

He was then just off target with a spectacular overhead kick and denied on the six- yard line by a headed clearance from Ian Hodges after the Dagenham & Redbridge loanee had met a Crittenden free-kick.

Erskine then turned provider, racing past Beavers skipper Dean Wells to deliver an inch-perfect cross to the far post, where Jake Smeeton could only pull his shot wide.

Hardworking Dorchester were punished for a moment's hesitancy when Barry Matthews' 49th- minute cross was nodded in by Yaku from close range.

Matthews was denied a goal himself when Dorchester goalkeeper Gareth Stewart made a fine diving save, but Phil Walsh came close to levelling for the home side when he met a Smeeton cross but headed against the bar. The ball was cleared as far as Tom Mitchell, who fired over from 20 yards.

Dorchester's challenge then faded as the Beavers coasted to full-time.
