Doncaster capably flew the National Hunt flag on Saturday after Cheltenham's big meeting was declared a wash-out.

While the calibre of racehorse was considerably weaker than what would have been on display at Prestbury Park, a potential gem was unearthed from the Paul Webber yard.

Webber is eyeing the Racing Post Chase at Kempton in February for Laskari following the gelding's game win in the Doncaster Racecourse Sponsorship Club Handicap Chase.

"It's right-handed and the ground there is better than most places and I think he will get three miles on decent ground," reflected the Banbury handler.

Punters up with the lark on Sunday morning were rewarded with a feast of Flat fare from Sha Tin.

Good Ba Ba, trained by Andreas Schutz, stole the show when breaking the track record as he romped to back-to-back victories in Hong Kong Mile.

Doctor Dino also repeated his victory in the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Vase as he denied the Luca Cumani-trained Purple Moon by the narrowest of margins.

Jamie Spencer looked to have stolen the race on Purple Moon as he quickened the tempo off a slow pace early in the straight, but Olivier Peslier got Doctor Dino's nose in front on the line.

Cumani, touched off in the last two runnings of the Melbourne Cup with Purple Moon and Bauer, said: "I am delighted to know that he belongs in this grade.

"We'll go to the Sheema Classic in Dubai next."

Eagle Mountain took the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup in tremendous style for trainer Mike de Kock, while Inspiration caused a 66-1 upset in the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint.

Trainer Willie Mullins and smart conditional rider Paul Townend stole the honours at Navan on Sunday with a near 35-1 treble through Mikael D'Haguenet, Shakervilz and Jayo.

Mullins was on hand to see Mikael D'Haguenet burst the bubble of Pandorama with an impressive victory in the Barry & Sandra Kelly Memorial Novice Hurdle before leaving for a trip to America.

A delighted Mullins said: "We will enter him for Cheltenham but he is such a big horse I worry about his speed coming down the hill.

"His next possible target is the Slaney Hurdle at Naas in January."

William Hill and VC Bet were suitably impressive and slashed Mullins' charge into 6-1 for the Ballymore Properties Novices' Hurdle at the Festival.

Shakervilz struck gold in the Giltspur Scientific Tara Hurdle, while Jayo claimed the Garlow Cross Beginners Chase.

Ruby Walsh registered his first winner since returning from injury when Mullins' Scotsirish bounded clear in the O'Connell Logistics Hilly Way Chase at Cork.

Walsh has been out of action since rupturing his spleen in a fall at Cheltenham last month – and only made his comeback on Friday.

The Irish jockey could not have received a more welcoming pick-me-up, however, as Scotsirish stormed to Grade Two honours.

Walsh was spotted making eyecatching progress early in the straight and seized the initiative from Newmill with a fluent jump two out.

Nearest pursuer Wanango took a heavy fall at the last which paved the way clear for Scotsirish to win by 16 lengths.

Stan James cut the winner into 66-1 from 100s for the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.
