Donations to raise thousands for Hospicecare
STOCK worth several thousand pounds has been donated to a Weston-super-Mare charity following an appeal that its cupboards were bare.
Weston Hospicecare held its Big Drop event last week where it asked people to rummage through their cupboards and donate unwanted goods.
Drop-off points were set up around the district with 450 bags – £6,000 of stock – being donated. The goods will now be sorted and distributed around the charity's shops where they will be sold to raise money for the hospice.
Hospicecare marketing manager Sarah Bostock said: "We are delighted that The Big Drop has done so well second time round and we hope that the support for this event will keep growing. Local businesses, schools, colleges and shops have been fantastic, allowing us to use them as Big Drop sites and publicising the campaign to make it a success.
