Dogs are allowed
I am writing to correct a claim by Conservative councillor Martin Kerry that dogs will not be allowed in the new park on Maskelyne Avenue.
Dogs will be allowed in the park. It is simply the toddler play area where they will be excluded. I am sure Mr Kerry will agree that that is not only appropriate, but good practice.
There are two sides to every story as there are two sides to this park. One is designated dog free; the other remains open. This is clearly shown in the plans posted on local notice boards since the summer, one not far from Mr Kerry's Bristol residence.
It is a shame he has not found the time to attend any of the recent meetings of the Parks Area Green Spaces or councillor briefings. He might have got his facts right before printing his latest leaflet.
Dog-walkers are often the first to note and report concerns about safeguarding visitors to our parks and open spaces.
Councillor Cheryl Ann,
Liberal Democrat Councillor for Horfield ward.
