Dog walkers barking mad over proposed £1 parking fee at Ashton Court, Bristol
A petition against a parking charge for Bristol's Ashton Court Estate, branded a "tax on health", has attracted 300 signatures. Bristol City Council wants to charge people £1 to park at the estate, now free, to offset cuts of £21 million and says it could raise £200,000 a year. Hannah King has been walking her dogs on the estate for a six years, twice a day, and drives to the estate from the city centre. She said: "A lot of people do the same but won't be able to pay the £600 or £700 a year. At the moment parking charge is going to be £1 but they tend to increase."

“Comment from docklobster: Stop repeating everything i'm saying, it's getting tiresome. It's like "Sad Lonely Dog Owners Weekly" on here.
Ahem, I think you have been repeating yourself here rather a lot too!
Dogs bring fulfilment and love and complete the family - perhaps something 'docklobster' may be lacking. Clearly, you cannot see this point of view, never will and don't want to. So don't presume just because there are some of us who are capeable of loving a dog, that we must be sad and lonely. Quite the opposite. It's not a crime to love the creatures we share this planet with. It makes you a more rounded human being.”

“Look this city need to raise money to keep essential services going.. there are other parts of bristol where residents dont have the luxuary of ashton court.. most have to walk round pavements or muddy green areas... so for the pleasure of walking round ashton court, i say yes you should pay.. But a warning to the council. you may end up wondering where have the visitors to ashton court, gone.. because you priced them out of the market..”

"Of course dogs are luxury items!
They aren't necessities are they?"
Nor are children!!! But people still have them and make tax payers pay to raise them!!
At least the majority of dog owners are paying to look after them!!”

“In response to "docklobster" saying that dogs are not a necessity, you can say that children are NOT a necessity (esp. on this overpopulated planet)! Again, dogs are NOT luxury items. And they are certainly NOT ITEMS!!!!”

“@ Hannah King..twice a day in your car from the city centre to Ashton Park
Why not walk from the centre to the Park or if thats too far around the harbour?
Save Fuel
Exercise yourself
Less Congestion
A win-win situation, and not rocket science”
