Jonathon Clayton threw a big personal best to win the Bristol Schools' discus title at Bath University.

The 14-year-old Colston's Collegiate student won the junior boys' event with a throw of 36.32m. That beat his previous best of 31.93 with which he won the Avon title earlier this month.

His victory was one of the highlights of the the event, which was switched to Bath as Whitchurch cannot host competitions due to the poor state of the track.

Clifton High student Lucy Bryan also impressed. The 14-year-old cleared a personal best of 1.63m, adding seven centimetres to her previous best, to win the junior girls' long jump.

In the sprints, there were good wins for St Mary Redcliffe's Geovaughan Burey in the junior boys' 100m – he also won the high jump – and Bristol Grammar School's Thomas Scammell in the minor boys' 100m.

Redland Green School youngster Alex Alden did well to win both the minor girls' 100m and long jump titles.
