Disadvantaged children enjoyed a special hamper of toys thanks to the generosity of families who donated thousands of presents.

Kleeneze Catalogue agents invited customers to add a children's toy to their order, to be presented to Barnardo's South West, and were overwhelmed by the response.

More than 750 customers responded to the appeal from across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.

They donated more than 1,000 items including puzzles, dolls, books and games.

The gifts were delivered to the charity's regional office in Fishponds, where they were distributed to projects across the area.

Kleeneze executive distributor Andy Cooper said: "We heard about a similar appeal run by colleagues in another part of the country last year, and decided it was worth trying it here as well.

"We were amazed by everyone's generosity. The customers thought it was a lovely idea and donated more than we could have hoped."

“In fact it was over 2000 toys worth £6000+, an amazing effort by Kleeneze customers in the South West. Just like to say a huge thank you all ourb customers who contributed.
