Producer Karl Sydow said: "We are so pleased to be returning to Bristol where the record-breaking first ever national tour first wowed the public.
"The unique combination of the iconic story and the breathtaking dancing for which the show is renowned has proven so popular around the country that we are really looking forward to allowing audiences to relive this iconic story live on stage."
Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage is written by Eleanor Bergstein, script writer and co-producer of the phenomenally successful 1987 film starring the late Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.
Set at a holiday resort in the summer of 1963, it tells the story of teenager Frances 'Baby' Houseman and dance instructor Johnny Castle. As Johnny teaches Baby to dance, tempers flare and temperatures rise as an intense romance begins to develop.
Christiaan De Villiers, the Bristol Hippodrome general manager, told The Post: "Bristol audiences made such an impression on the show's producers during its premiere here in 2011, they have chosen to return with their record breaking hit show for the launch of their 2014 UK tour."
Tickets go on sale 10am Monday, February 11. Tickets cost £10 to £75 and are available from www.dirty dancingontour.com, Tel 0844 871 3012, or The Hippodrome Box Office.
