Dings pack dominate to seal Westcombe Park victory
Dings dominated their EDF Energy National trophy tie and despite wet conditions handled the ball exceptionally well and ran in five tries against a spirited Westcombe Park side.
Dings were first to score with a penalty from Adam Westall on six minutes. Westcombe Park equalised on twenty-four minutes with a penalty from flanker Philip Rogers on their first visit to the Dings twenty-two. Dings first try came two minutes later, full back Orlando Stott, who had a fine game, slipped the ball to flanker Rich Jenkins for the try, Westall converted the try.
On the half hour Westall increased Dings lead with his second penalty and their second try came minutes later when wing Chris Wright-Hider touched down, Westall converted again.
Dings were on the scoreboard within two minutes of the restart with a try for full back Stott, Westall added the conversion. The Dings pack forced a succession of penalties on the visitors line and after opting for three scrums and not getting over the try line Westall landed a penalty for 30-3 to Dings.
Dings added two further tries in the final ten minutes, the first from Westall and the second from lock Rob Rees after a break and kick ahead from Wright-Hider was retrieved and driven over.
