Dings Crusaders bid to topple a top-three side at third time of asking
Dings Crusaders will be hoping to make it third-time lucky against a top-three National Division Three South side when Ealing visit Lockleaze tomorrow.
Alan Martinovic's team conceded points in the closing stages to lose 16-14 to third-placed Rosslyn Park last weekend and 18-16 to leaders London Scottish in February.
Dings beat second-placed Ealing 24-17 in the National Trophy second round in November but the London side fielded a weakened side.
"We need to show a bit more composure. Hopefully we can get over this hurdle," said director of rugby Martinovic.
"My players have performed well against the top sides – Rosslyn Park and London Scottish.
"They have competed well against players with National Division One experience at least.
"We have acquitted ourselves really well in their company but we are slightly disappointed because we were winning going into the last five minutes of these matches."
Ealing routed Richmond 51-10 last weekend and Martinovic added: "We will be facing a stronger team this weekend compared to the side Ealing fielded in the cup.
"But this match is over the Easter period and can Ealing field their strongest side?
"Ealing are out of their blip. They lost to Barking and Rugby Lions but they put 50 points on Richmond.
"Richmond had won six matches on the bounce before they lost to us a fortnight ago. They are no pushovers."
Martinovic has recalled fly-half Adam Westall in place of Tom Lukjaniec, while prop Tim Brockett (knee) could make his first appearance for two months.
Although teenage centre Luke Plummer joined Newport Gwent-Dragons Academy earlier this season, Martinovic is hopeful he can hang on to his youngsters.
He added: "I am happy with the way we are playing. It is interesting that of 25 of the youngest players in National Division Three South, 12 of them are from Dings.
"If the club can hang on to these players it bodes well for the future. I don't think players will leave because there is less money around.
"There's no money from sponsors or sugar-daddies who are prepared to bank-roll teams.
"I hope these guys would not be tempted by extra cash. Hopefully, the guys want to play in a fantastic environment at Dings."
