SCHOOL children from Clifton High School have been given an insight into how a new housing development takes shape after visiting Barratt's development in Frampton Cotterell, South Gloucestershire.

At The Meads, the children learnt about everything from house building to the machinery used on developments and heard all about the latest innovations in the building industry which are being used to create the new homes.

Barratt sales director Andrea Pilgrim said she was delighted that the children had shown such an interest in house building.

"We consider that building a foundation for the community is highly important and this visit has left the youngsters very excited and us extremely enthusiastic,'' said Andrea.

“I hope that the children's Eco-Teacher and Health Coordinator will re-dress the balance by explaining and demonstrating the importance of green fields not only for raising and growing food but also for our well-being as it is a fact that people feel an innate inherited connection to the natural environment because we are all living organisms who therefore feel better in the green outdoors that raises our self-esteem and relieves anxiety and other health conditions.

Such a visit must also confuse the children as to the meaning of a village and rural setting.
I wonder why the school transported their childern so far in order to visit a modern building site - unless there is a "connection" that USED these children and their visit as a cheap advert.

Undoubtably the developers have "forgotten" that the Planning Inspector who granted their appeal after building had been refused, clearly stated that The Meads is a clear limit to built development and that the agricultural land to the south (now threatened by them) should remain rural in character.”

“I doubt that Barratt's also told the children that the site was previously a green field which they managed to get permission to build on despite opposition from local residents. They also probably didn't explain that they now want to build an additional 400 houses on the adjacent farmland. Barratt's themselves describe Frampton Cotterell as "a picturesque village in the heart of the Green Belt", a description which will not apply for much longer if they continue to cover our countryside with concrete and tarmac.”
