Deloitte's finance wizard Martyn Gregory deals in success twice
THE head of the corporate finance team at Deloitte is no stranger to awards and it is a mark of his reputation and achievements that he is the only person to achieve a double in this years's Deals Awards.
Martyn Gregory has followed up on his success in last year's corporate finance category by going one better and picking up one more award this time around.
Born and educated in Gloucester, Mr Gregory has headed the South West and Wales Corporate Finance Advisory practice at Deloitte and has bought the company huge success over the past two years.
Martyn joined the firm in 2000 after spending nine years in corporate finance and accountancy, and became a partner in 2005.
He has worked on and led more than 50 deals at Deloitte, worth a combined total of over £1 billion and counting.
In the past 12 months these deals have included the management buyout of egg producer Stonegate Farmers based in Lacock, Wiltshire.
It was what many believe to have been the biggest deal in the South West last year, with an estimated value of around £40 million.
Husband and wife team Richard and Pam Corbett completed the management buyout of the company, which produces and packs eggs, with the help and advice of Deloitte.
Stonegate, which last year turned over approximately £140 million, supplies a wide range of eggs to a number of major UK supermarkets, such as Sainsbury's and Waitrose, and food service companies.
Stonegate also has operations across the UK, including sites in Cornwall and Lincolnshire, and employs over 500 people.
Pam Corbett was appointed as managing director of Stonegate during the summer.
The acquisition of Portishead-based vending machine company Coffetek by Spanish firm Azkoyen Industrial for an undisclosed fee last year was another milestone.
Coffetek, which was formed in 1993, designs and manufactures a range of coffee vending machines, as well as dispensers for tea, chocolate, soup and other drinks.
Builder Balfour Beatty's £52 million acquisition of Bristol-based Cowlin Construction, was the biggest deal in construction in the South West.
ISG plc's acquisition of Bristol-based Pearce Construction was another success.
To add another string to his bow, Mr Gregory is also Deloitte's community investment partner for the South West and has helped to raise over £100,000 for various good causes.
