Delight as Bristol Somalis get their Voice back
The Somali Voice newspaper is back in print.
The free, bilingual publication has been published this week for the first time since an arson attack destroyed the newspaper's offices in Easton in July.
Since then, thanks to equipment and money donated by Friendoc, the Quartet Foundation, the Safer Bristol Partnership and the Society of Merchant Venturers; the Somali Voice is now based at new offices in St Agnes Lodge, St Paul's.
Editor Kayse Maxamed is delighted people in the Somali community can now get the paper again.
He said: "I'm very glad we have been able to publish again. The Somali community and the volunteers are all very happy.
"Often people in the Somali community will not be very engaged with the mainstream media.
"So this is why the newspaper is very important.
"All of our new equipment is working well and I'd like to thank everyone who has helped us over the last few months."
