Defending Grand Prix Snooker champion John Higgins held nerve
Defending Grand Prix champion John Higgins held his nerve to see off world No 1 Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-4 during a classic encounter in front of his home crowd in Glasgow.
O'Sullivan led 4-3, only to miss a great chance to clinch the match in a nervous eighth frame.
Higgins, though, showed no fear in the decider, producing a break of 94 to book a place in the quarter-finals.
Northern Ireland's Mark Allen beat Jamie Cope 5-3, while Scotland's Stephen Maguire defeated Nigel Bond 5-3 after being 3-1 down.
