Deerswood foiled by Rockleaze fightback
Avon Youth League: Rockleaze Rangers showed real spirit to fight back from two goals down and earn a 2-2 draw with Deerswood Youth in an enthralling Under-15s Division III encounter
Breaking forward with pace and looking dangerous from set- plays, Deerswood went 2-0 up in the first 20 minutes.
Rangers' man-of the match Chris Toole then made a superb headed clearance off the line as he, Harry O'Conor and Joe Brooks began to assert themselves at the back.
That enabled Tom Ashford and Jonny Bradbeer to exert a greater influence in the midfield and just before half-time the impressive Scott McCluskey made a surging run down the right and sent in a venomous shot which the keeper did well to divert on to the crossbar, only for Ricky Wilson to tap in the rebound.
The second half was a very even affair with both teams going close before Ollie Rush burst through to sidefoot the Rockleaze equaliser.
The home side were, however, indebted to keeper Nick Adams for making one of a string of fine saves when left one-on-one in the final minute.
Goals by Ryan Boyd (4), Elliott O'Neill (3), Ben Waldron (2) and Ricky Maine ensured Hanham Athletic B continued their recent good form with a 10-0 win at Ashton Boys C in Under-14s Division IV.
Hanham went 2-0 up inside seven minutes and led 4-0 at the break.
Most of the second half was spent in Ashton territory, while at the other end central defenders Sam Bunt and Sam Haggerty playing their part as their team finished with a clean sheet.
Defender Josh Crew ventured upfield looking for his first Hanham goal but unfortunately shot wide from six yards.
