Peg 14 on 'Suicide Straight' came up with a 25-4-0 victory for Steve Dawson in the Alcove 'Pick 'n Mix' Monday match fished at the Fishponds Lido.

Dawson started the match by fishing pole and maggot at seven metres and had 17-2-0 of skimmers and roach in his net when the fish backed off. He immediately switched to waggler tactics and added two late bonus 4lb bream to his catch.

Avon Angling's Martin Alexander finished second at peg eight on the island, where maggot and soft pellet poled at 11 metres centre tempted 16-0-0 of skimmers and roach. Match secretary Ian Chapple came a close third with 15-8-0 of roach taken with soft pellet poled at seven metres off island peg seven.

Second place went to Bathampton AA coach Kevin Dicks, who fished a variety of baits into the island gap at 25 metres of peg 53 for 46-12-0 of carp to almost 9-0-0.

Match secretary Colin Golding took the top silverfish catch at peg 49, where he fished and fed soft 6mm pellet at eightmetres centre to tempt 8-15-0 of skimmers.

Craig Edmunds poled 8mm pellet shallow at 14.5 metres off Campbell 118 and claimed his second win on the trot with a 139-15-0 catch of carp in the Bristol PSV match fished at Viaduct Fishery, Somerton.

The top silverfish prize money went to Bob Warren, who poled paste into the corner margins of peg 123 for 57-7-0 of skimmers and tench.

Alcove AC hammered Kingswood & Hanham RBL in an inter-club match fished on both lakes at Whitehouse Farm, Latteridge, weighing in 52-9-0 to their opponents' 16-1-0.

Alcove team members filled the top four individual places, Ian Chapple leading the way with a 20-3-0 mixed bag taken from peg 28 with an 8mm hair-rigged pellet.

Only 1-11-0 separated the top two places in the Avon Angling Midweek Open fished at Avalon Fisheries, West Hay. Bela Bakos came out on top with a decent 75-2-0 haul of carp taken with waggler and paste fished close to the island off peg 38.

Second was Mike West, who poled paste into the right-hand margins of peg 24 and included the top silverfish catch of 4-6-0 in his 73-7-0 total catch.
