Dave Payne column: It would be nice to get our medals
Dave Payne column: Although professional football teams started their league campaign almost a month ago, local soccer only kicked off last week.
I am really looking forward to this season with my newly-promoted Brislington Reserves team.

We finished runners-up last season in Somerset League Division One. However, we have still not received our medals for this achievement. Apparently, the Somerset FA sent our club the wrong batch of trophies (they were cup runner-up medals), which obviously ruined our club's presentation night.
So, even after repeated requests, four months on there is still no sign of them. It seems a bit strange because the Somerset FA were so quick in fining and deducting points from our team after my simple administrative error which occurred on the first day of last season. Anyway, that's my little gripe out the way.
There was an incident in the summer which attracted not only my attention but that of the national media, which revolved around the antics of a football team from Bristol on tour in Greece.
Hanham Sunday were the team in question, and there was a furore when all the tour members went out on the streets in Greece dressed up as nuns.
They were all eventually released, with the charges dropped. A few of the touring party appeared on news channels, where they described their harrowing experience. It was certainly a trip that they will never forget. Apparently, the club has already organised next year's tour to Italy, where they are all going dressed as tarts and vicars!
Funnily enough, on our club's tour to Liverpool, many of us dressed as super-heroes. Our centre-half Jason Llama looked great as Spiderman, while first-team manager Jeff Meecham looked fetching in his blue-tight Superman costume. I went out looking just like Michael Keaton's Batman.
The most authentic, though, had to be my assistant, Steve Badock. He was the Invisible Man – well, no one saw him all weekend because he was back in Bristol, the lightweight!
Just one final thought: like many thousands of other people, I went along to the Bristol Museum to see the Banksy exhibition.
I have to say I came away slightly disappointed because I couldn't see anywhere a picture of the great save he made from legendary Brazilian striker Pele in the 1970 World Cup finals!
