Star Man: Chris Dauncey was superb in title-chasing Longwell Green Reserves' 1-0 victory over Oldland Abbotonians Reserves.

Dauncey gave a faultless performance at centre-half and was the pivotal figure in keeping Oldland at bay in the Bristol Premier Combination game. He tackled well and was dominant in the air.

His reading of the game was impressive and allowed him to intercept a number of passes. Dauncey also made a goal-saving tackle to block a shot from Jamie Bryant.

Longwell Green manager Nick Marsh said after the game: "Chris didn't let anything get past him. Whenever he received the ball he didn't panic. He looked up to see who was around him and played the ball."

Dauncey said: "It was a quality win, a derby and you couldn't really get a tighter game. We had to battle for the result."

All the Longwell Green defenders played well and once they had taken the lead, the defence gave their side great protection and victory never seriously looked in doubt.
