Darren Barry expects even better from Old Reds
DARREN Barry, the Old Redcliffians Under-18s coach, issued a "could do better" mark to his young charges following their 36-22 win at Gordano.
The Bristol back-five forward, who is a product of the Brislington-based club, said: "The team had not played together since our draw with Bristol Harlequins in December, so I was expecting us to be a bit rusty.
"But, apart from a few silly mistakes in attack, I was really pleased with the way we played during the first half.
"We dominated the line-out and put some really good phases together to go 24-5 up.
"But the second half was a different story. We conceded 17 points late in the game and, to be honest, were a bit sloppy at times.
"We need to keep our concentration a bit better, and put sides away when were on top.
"But the positives outweighed the negatives. Some of our play was superb and we're happy to get the win."
Reds took the game to the Sharks from the first whistle, with skipper James Clements leading by example to score two first-half tries.
Reds continued to dominate with hooker Josh Woodman, pictured, powering over for a try.
This was followed by a try from Paul Dury, which was converted by Lawrence Mizen.
The home side began to come back into the contest after the interval, as the visitors dropped their intensity.
But Reds responded with two further tries from Liam Phillips and Rowan Coombs. Mizen added one conversion.
