A daredevil record breaker has achieved his life-long ambition – "slacklining" across Cheddar Gorge.

Jon Ritson, 27, from Stavely in Cumbria, teetered along the one-inch thick cord, crossing the famous gorge and setting a new record for the highest slackline in Britain.

Slacklining is distinct from tightrope walking. The line is not held rigidly taut but is instead dynamic, stretching and bouncing like a narrow trampoline.

Crowds of tourists watched from the ground as he completed the 30m-long 150m-high walk in just two-and-a-half minutes.
