A 51-point victory gave Daiwa Gordon League top billing and a place in the Angling Times Winter League finals, to be fished on the River Nene, at Peterborough, later in the year.

And with the top four teams all qualifying, Daiwa Gordon League will be joined at the finals by Drennan GOT Baits, Kamasan Starlets and Garbolino Blackmore Vale.

Local interest centred on the Sensas Bathampton Avon Aquatics team, who, after crashing to a disappointing eighth place on home waters, had the consolation of Dave Micklewright winning the individual competition.

Micklewright drew fish to peg three in K section, which is situated half way between the Diggers and Dundas bridges. He fed chopped lobworm to within a metre of the far bank and, in the last hour, netted a pair of match-winning hybrids, weighing 3-4lb.

Martin Howard led Daiwa to victory after drawing fish to a peg situated between the footbridge and the wires at Darlington. The Van Den Eynde-sponsored rod caught 3lb of ruffe and gudgeon with bloodworm and 6lb of roach with caster.
