Cyclist is found dead in Knowle street

AN area of Knowle was cordoned off after a cyclist was found dead in the street.

Police were called to Priory Road at 5.30am yesterday after a report of a cyclist laying in the middle of the street.

The street and surrounding area was cordoned off as police officers conducted their investigation.

Officers say they are treating the death of the man aged in his 60s as unexplained but not suspicious.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said: "The death is being treated as unexplained. It is not believed to be suspicious."

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or have any information to contact them on 101.

    “"Laying" in this context is correct. Lay is a transitive verb meaning that there is always an object associated with it, and the cyclist is the object in the sentence.

    I don't think flattop was making a joke, just an observation on what was thought to be incorrect grammar.

    Anyway, I don't think that death is a sensitive subject that shouldn't be joked about. Society places all these taboos around death but why? It's the one certainty in life. That and taxes. Yeah, I know, what if it was a relation of mine that had died...?”
