Cutters Friday made it five successive Premier Division victories with a 2-0 success at struggling Cleeve West Town.

Playing up the slope, Cutters dominated the opening 45 minutes, but with Dan Spill, Ryan Bending and Andy Nash missing good chances, it needed a good save from goalkeeper Nick Porter to stop them falling behind.

They took the lead a minute before half-time when Paul Chaffey's through ball found Harley Purnell and he released Bending, who gave his side a deserved lead.

Cleeve West Town had the better of the second half without scoring and, with seven minutes left, Cutters' Dave O'Reilly won the ball in midfield to release Purnell and he beat the last defender before rounding the goalkeeper to clinch victory.

Cutters are now fifth in the table.

In Division One, St George Easton in Gordano took over top spot with a 6-1 victory over Stockwood Green, while in the only other game played, Saltford were 2-1 home winners over Burnham United Reserves.

Clutton were 6-2 winners over Imperial in Division Two and, in the only other game to survive, Fry Club Reserves were beaten 4-2 by their Shepton Mallet counterparts.

In the only match to survive the heavy overnight rain in the Gloucestershire County League, Axa lost their unbeaten record to a good Ellwood side.

The 4-2 result was a fair reflection on the game overall, with Ellwood playing some very good football throughout.

Byron Ranford scored all four goals for Ellwood, with Danny Thorpe and Steve Watts netting for Axa.
