Cutters Friday continued their climb up the Somerset County League Premier Division table with their sixth successive victory, a 3-2 home success over Mangotsfield United Reserves, which took them up to fourth place.

Mangotsfield dominated the opening 20 minutes of the game but conceded a poor goal when they were caught on the break and a bad back-pass set up an opening for Ryan Bending. His shot was blocked by goalkeeper Neal Hanson but it rebounded for Danny Spill to score.

The visitors equalised when Aaron Taynton scored after a Leon Cousins corner, and Taynton then put his side in front with a second goal just before the interval.

Cutters levelled after 65 minutes when a free-kick by Harley Purnell deflected off a defender to beat Hanson and, after both sides had missed chances, Spill scored an injury-time winner.

Bridgwater Town Reserves stay a point clear at the top of the table after their 3-1 home victory over local rivals Taunton Blackbrook with goals from Carl Jones (2) and Jamie Howson.

Second-placed Shirehampton had a 6-3 victory at Cheddar, having led 4-1 at the interval.

All Shire's first-half goals came from long throw-ins, with Rich Hewitt netting twice and Lee Riches also claiming a brace.

An own goal took them to five and Andy Gibson netted the sixth and last goal.

Third-placed Frome Town Reserves were surprisingly held to a 2-2 draw at struggling Timsbury Athletic, while Cleeve Town beat bottom-of-the-table Odd Down Reserves 4-1 in the basement clash.

Defending champions Nailsea United continued their good spell with a 2-0 victory in their local derby at Backwell United.

Stuart Lee and Lee Cogan were on target for Nailsea, whose manager Chris Adamson said: "After our disappointing start to the season things are now starting to come back together and we have won four, drawn one and only lost one of our last six games."
