Custody threat to boy, 14, who tried to rob Bristol petrol station
A "vulnerable" 14-year-old boy who admitted trying to rob a Brislington petrol station at knifepoint while drunk could face custody.
Bristol Crown Court heard the lad, who cannot be named by court order, was abusive to shop staff and, brandishing a knife, demanded money.
He didn't steal anything or injure anyone and was later arrested after being identified on CCTV.
Sarah Regan, prosecuting, said that, after a row with a Tesco security guard, the lad went to the Murco service station in Brislington, where the shop assistant refused to serve him cigarettes as he didn't believe he was 18.
He was asked to leave but returned moments later with a 6in kitchen knife.
Adjourning the case until October 9 for a further probation report, Judge Michael Roach told the lad: "I will adjourn the case but no promises are made and custody might take place."
