Victory at the 12th time of asking booked Forest Green's passage to the FA Cup first round to play Team Bath.

Braces for Les Afful and Kaid Mohamed put Ryman League Premier Division side Ashford firmly in their place.

Jim Harvey's men could easily have won by a more handsome margin, but the dominant nature of their display was heartening for the New Lawn faithful after a miserable winless run.

Rovers went ahead after 18 minutes, Jerry Gill swinging in a fine cross for Afful to cleverly poke past Ross with an outstretched boot.

Rovers furthered their lead 18 seconds after the break, as Afful teed up Mohamed for the simplest of finishes.

It was 3-0 on 76 minutes, Jonathan Smith's pass splitting the defence for Mohamed to drive past the helpless Ross, and Afful completed the rout late on.
