Crews tackle Bristol flat fire
Fire crews were called to a fire in a flat above a cafe in Filton Avenue, Horfield, yesterday morning.
After taking several calls from passers-by at about 8am, they tackled the fire, which had been confined to one bedroom of a shared flat. The bedroom door was shut, so the fire did not spread.
It is believed the fire was started by a cigarette butt.
The occupant of the bedroom had already left for work, and their flatmates were able to get out safely after hearing the smoke alarm go off.
