Crews called to flat blaze
A HORFIELD couple and their pet dogs had to be treated by firefighters after a kitchen fire in their flat.
The incident took place at about 7.45pm on Thursday in the first-floor flat in Filton Road.
It is thought that the couple, believed to be in their late 30s, had gone out and left food cooking on the hob.
When they returned they found smoke coming from the building and entered the flat to rescue their two dogs.
Crews arrived on scene and used a high pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire. Both the couple and the dogs were given oxygen because of the large amount of smoke they inhaled. The female resident was taken to hospital.
The fire caused heavy smoke to the rest of the property, which was not fitted with smoke alarms.
