Create the Perfect Coastal Style with Laura Ashley
Coastal home décor seems set to return season on season, perhaps due to its ability to revive memories of bygone holidays enjoyed at the beach. And this season Laura Ashley has revisited our nation’s love for the great British seaside with the SS13 room set “Coastal Living”.
Stepping away from the more brash nautical style the collection uses a classic palette of new washed sea spray blues with neutral linens & white to create a look based on simplicity and comfort.
The brand new Dorset cabinet furniture collection suits coastal styling down to the ground - a perfect example of how natural wood grains can add texture and warmth to what could otherwise be a cool colour palette. The hand crafted range features a gentle chalk wash that harmonises perfectly with the solid ash tops. The collection includes among other things, dining table & chairs, display cabinet, and sideboard. There’s something for almost any room in the house!
Laura Ashley is often known for beautiful fabric and wallpaper designs, and Coastal Living does not disappoint. A selection of new and re-coloured prints featuring flora & fauna, woven stripes, and checks all work fantastically together. Whether on sofas and chairs, wallpaper, or made to measure curtains they will give your room a casually mismatched feel.
For the bedroom we have revisited the retro styled “Serena print” from last season and re-coloured it in cool shades of sea spray blue and stone. This will make the perfect accompaniment to any of our cream or white bedroom furniture sets and beds. The bedroom is also a great place to add warmth and depth through the use of different textures and fabrics such as the chunky Parker Knit Blanket.
To achieve the perfect coastal styling the important finishing touch is the accessories. The Dorset display cabinet is the ideal place to display all your collectables and found objects. If you aren’t lucky enough to have a precious collection of shells gathered on a past holiday then bring the look together with a set of 3 lit ceramic shells or perhaps a hurricane lamp.
