Crawley Town have cleared the way for Kyle McFadzean to join Bristol City after manager Richie Barker made a double transfer swoop.

Faced with the task of replacing City-bound McFadzean and Claude Davis, who joined Rotherham yesterday, Barker has recruited centre-back Connor Essam from Gillingham and Sierra Leone international defender Mustapha Dumbuya, 25, who was released by Portsmouth this month.

Their arrival will hasten the departure of McFadzean, who has already agreed a contract with Championship strugglers City. The clubs have agreed a fee, but sources at Ashton Gate insist no deal will be done until after the weekend.

McFadzean has not played since November 24 after contracting a virus and has yet to return to full training. City have until next Thursday to sign him on a permanent deal.

“I can now exclusively reveal that he's not coming

Hopefully this means that we've got someone else (2) lined up after failing to land:

Keogh, Gerrard, Monk, Tate, Ward and now McFadzean”

    “@RedNemesis_1:

I suggest you direct your comments at our Board and the last thing we need is more people staying away.

Remember, I was one of the few not clammering for a change of manager without a change of strategy & investment.”

And I'm not throwing in the towell just yet.

Stay away from the Gate unless you can give positive vocal support ...”

    “@marmeliser:

It's always been a virus and he's not kicked a ball since November.SD mad it known that McFadzean's done nothing since Nov so by the time he joins us he won't have trainer for almost three months.

I would think it will take him at least a month to get physically fit and then match fitness can only come with matches and, at that point there won't be many left.

Looks like one for next season and that League One has been accepted.”

    “This is getting laughable.

Crawley sell a player to Rotherham and he's not coming-Oh, hang on, they'vsigned two, so he is...........

Must have passed the medical and could be available for our last ten games by which time if we don't get new players, we can start preparing for League One.”
