Former Cheltenham Town midfielder Ben Gill has signed for Blue Square Premier side Crawley Town.

Gill, 21, has been on trial at the Broadfield Stadium since being released by Cheltenham boss Martin Allen in January.

"Ben has signed until the end of the season – we feel he has come down here and done extremely well," said Crawley assistant manager Paul Raynor.

"He can play at right-back, in the middle of the park or out wide so he's very versatile."

Gill made four starts and 11 substitute appearances during his 18-month spell at Whaddon Road after being signed by John Ward in the summer of 2007.
