Crash barrier for Bristol road after car plummets into house
A crash barrier will be installed at the end of a road in Bristol where a car plummeted 60ft down a bank into a house.
Bristol City Council has agreed to introduce the safety measures following the terrifying accident in Withleigh Road, Brislington, in July.

But residents whose homes in Queensdown Gardens were damaged when the out-of-control BMW careered through their back gardens say the barrier should be in place by now.
They were informed that work to install the barrier near an unprotected steep drop into their sloping gardens was "likely" to take place between July and September.
Auxiliary nurse Vicky Avery and her partner Aaron Spells, a firefighter, had been in their new home for fewer than 24 hours when the car landed on their patio against their brick shed.
She said the repairs to their house had now been made and paid for by an insurance company, but residents were still waiting for the safety barrier to be installed.
Miss Avery said: "We had an email from the council in July to say the protective barrier was likely to be erected in the next two months or so, depending on contractor availability.
"I expected it to be there by October. They haven't starting building so I will be sending them an email to chase them up.
"We've had our property rebuilt – the insurance company sent people round to do the repairs.
"Our neighbours' property has also been partly repaired."
Mum Amy Hatcher climbed out of the BMW unscathed after she lost control of the vehicle and it crashed through a 5ft breeze block wall and into the gardens before narrowly missing Miss Avery and Mr Spells' patio door on July 1.
No one was badly hurt but residents say the accident could have been fatal. It left a trail of devastation after pieces of the car and garden wall were sent flying into three gardens and on to patios.
Neighbours said a van had fallen into the gardens five years ago, and a car rolled to the bottom of the gardens in the 1970s.
Shortly after the accident, the city council had said there might be difficulties installing a barrier to stop vehicles rolling into the tiered gardens because of problems over land ownership and fears a barrier might block residents' garages.
Bristol City Council spokeswoman Kate Hartas said: "The metal barrier has been made and it will be installed shortly.
"There is a wall at the site of the accident and that will remain in place and will be protected by the new barrier."

“Well that's three accidents in 39 years. One every 13 years and knowing how slow the council is to do anything (unless of course it appears in the in Evening Post) they have until 2022 until the next one happens.”
