BRISTOL-based Irish dance duo Brosena are preparing to perform in the live semi-finals of the Sky 1 television show Got to Dance on Sunday.

Tom Brosnan and Erin Trevena, who mix traditional dancing with show style and perform to alternative music rather than Irish, are aiming to win the £250,000 first prize.

They say this would enable them to stage their own professional Irish dance show or to set up a dance school.

They met in 2009 when Tom was on his first professional tour in Australia with the production Rhythms of Ireland. Erin, joined the cast, and Tom says it was "love at first sight".

The couple moved back to the UK that same year and have been dancing together ever since under the name Brosena, a mix of their surnames. They have won numerous national and international champion- ships together and performed in many countries. Both have won roles in Riverdance.

Tom is a keen fan of Queen's Park Rangers and has enlisted support via microblogging site Twitter of several players, including Shaun Wright- Phillips, Alejandro Faurlin and Jay Bothroyd.

Brosena also drummed up backing closer to home, wowing students at Brimsham Green School in Yate with a lunch-hour performance.

The show is on at 6pm on Sunday.
