Couple celebrate 70 years of marriage
It's an anniversary which most people struggle to reach... 70 years of marriage.
But for Bill Mitton, 99, and his wife Doris, 91, it was yet another extraordinary milestone in their extraordinary lives.
-

The happy couple tied the knot three months before the outbreak of the Second World War, on June 24, 1939.
And for the past 64 years, they have lived in the same house in Whitehall, where their family grew up. At the bungalow in Wineberry Close the pair celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary, surrounded by five generations of their family.
Bill worked as a fireman during the war and then as a window cleaner for many years before going on to work for Crittall Windows in Brislington, until he retired at 65.
Doris worked in a munitions factory in St Philips during the war. She became a cleaner at the former Rose Green School and worked as a home help for the city council in Whitehall, Fishponds and Speedwell.
The couple have two children, June and Diane; five grandchildren, Nicole, Paul, Tina, Mark and Louise; five great-grandchildren, Marcus, Leanne, Megan, Oliver and Millie; and four great-great-grandchildren, Charlie, Harry, Harvey and Lexie, aged one.
Bill, originally from St Philips Marsh, and Doris, originally from Clifton Wood, met through Doris' grandmother, whose niece was going out with a friend of Bill's.
Doris was only 15 when they met, and they courted for six years, enjoying long walks at Ashton Court and the Downs, where they had a special seat.
"We were just friends first of all," Doris said.
"I suppose we were courting long enough, it was time to get married."
The couple were married in St Andrew's Church in Clifton, which a year later was destroyed by bombing.
They held their wedding reception in St Mary's Church House in Tyndalls Park Road.
They still have the original receipt for the reception, which cost £6, 13 shillings and nine pence (£6.69).
When they were younger, they used to enjoy cycling together and they have always been very house proud, always keeping an immaculate garden, where they grow beans, tomatoes and cabbages.
They also enjoyed taking holidays across the UK and once visited Italy.
In Bristol, the couple both enjoyed going to the Beaconsfield Social Club in Barton Hill on Thursdays and Saturdays, where Bill always played snooker. Doris also enjoyed dancing.
Bill said that the secret of their long and successful marriage was "share and share alike and fifty-fifty".
Doris added: "We pull together and share. We never row, only argue. If it's right, it's right. And if it's wrong, it's wrong.
"We have always been very happy."
Bill and Doris' daughter June Harper prepared a buffet and members of their family came to see them throughout the day on their anniversary.
