Bristol City Council workers flout their own parking rules... again
PARKING wardens busy handing out fines in Bristol have been snapped flouting the rules themselves... again.
This car from Bristol City Council parking services was caught on CCTV outside a pub flagrantly parked on double yellow lines in front to an empty parking bay.
And the officers were unfazed when pictured by pub staff, according to landlord Marc Ruggles.
The pair of officers were spotted by the 30-year-old manager in front of his pub, the Jersey Lily in Whiteladies Road, Clifton, shortly after midday yesterday.
Mr Ruggles told the Evening Post: "They just pulled up outside and one of them sat there for around 10-15 minutes while the other was off ticketing bays.
"When they first pulled up there was nothing behind them. One of my colleagues camera phoned them, but they just don't seem to care. I've moaned about them before on numerous occasions on the parking services number."
The landlord admitted he had been ticketed himself many times due to the tight parking restrictions in Whiteladies Road and said the double standards over double yellows was laughable.
"It is frustrating, as when we are loading and there are people parked in the wrong spaces or in loading bays and we complain, the council don't do anything," he said.
Council spokeswoman Kate Hartas told the Post: "Civil Enforcement Officers can park on double yellows – but only if there is no available parking space nearby.
"This should not have happened and the council will investigate."

“"Why are the Evening Post going on about Traffic wardens when their OWN staff regularly drive on the pavement outside"
Well George, that wouldn't be like you 'not' riding on the pavement, would it?

“Why are the Evening Post going on about Traffic wardens when their OWN staff regularly drive on the pavement outside their offices and block their own fire exit...
A red Ford Ka regularly drives across the pavement to get to it's parking spot just outside the offices. Have a look next time you drive past it...”

“Council employees on Council business should be able to park anywhere, as long as they are not causing an obstruction.
This is just another example of the right-wing press attacking Bristol City Council over nothing at all.”
