This is Bristol

I read with interest the letter from T.Young. Ashton Bristol ('Disappointing performance from city councillors'). I am sorry to disappoint you again T.Young but the performance you witnessed at the council cabinet meeting you attended was not end-of-term high spirits.

My husband and I attended lots of meetings such as this and I made a lot of statements. I can assure you that I met with this behaviour all the time. In fact,

We attended some meetings in hotels when the council chamber was being decorated and that was worse, some councillors would leave their seats to get a tea or coffee whilst I was making my statement. I call it disrespectful.

I always likened the behaviour to a class of five-year-olds on their first week of school, when in my day they would have been made to stand in front of the class.
