Council container contents confusion continues
Confusion surrounding a costly container continues for Filton Town Council.
The Council recently tried to debate what to do about the container which is sited opposite their cycle track and costs them £600 a year to rent. During a cost saving excercise it was identified as something the Council should look at purchasing it or removing it, but when they discussed its contents, no one could explain what was inside it.

Whats in the box?
Its now become clear there are differing opinions on what the container actually houses. Councillor and Filton cycle speedway secretary, Roger Hutchinson explained recently on his speedway site, that the container has a small amount of speedway equipment in it, but this has been contradicted by the leisure centre manager.
Councillor Hutchinson explained on his site, that the cycle track came from an idea from the leisure centre manager for go karts and that the cycle club use the container for a small amount of equipment, but it remains the responsibility of the Council.
The leisure centre manager, Gareth Jones, has now confirmed that whilst he did propose go karts to the Council some years ago they were to be used on an ad hoc track rather than the permanant structure that Councillors decided to install instead. He also confired that the container holds a "large amount of cycle club equipment" in the container. It is understood that the club receive the storage for free.
A recent Boules competition held at the leisure centre, spilled over onto the cycle track due to the numbers, which was used by the organisers for free.
The container and its future is due to be discussed at full council on the 29th of this month.

“Surely this has gone on long enough, anyone who has equipment in there stored for free, should remove it unless the council are going to offer it up to football teams etc to store kit in there for free too?
This is just too flimsy for no reason to allow some ex member to seemingly dictate to the council what they can and cant do. It seems for some people facilities are free but for others without insider influence they have to pay like everyone else.
Free storage is free storage so perhaps I can recommend the big yellow self storage company for those with a large amount of equipment being stored at the councils expense?
why this has been allowed to go on and on is a mystery, either that or council members fear recrimination for doing what is right, for fear of upsetting the club.”

“Is it just me, or does every day seem like Groundhog Day? How much longer is this banal item going to dominate the news? How can the contents of an ISO be matter of opinion? Here's an idea: task Mr Brittas to actually open the container, do an inventory of the contents and trace the likely owner(s) thereof with a view to discussing the ongoing need for a storage facility. Maybe then telephone the hire company and instruct them to come and remove the expensive eyesore. What is there to debate? Are our illustrious councillors really interested in this pettifogging drivel?
How is the boules competition in any way relevant to the fiasco?
Did I really spend 5 minutes of my life reading this and commenting? Whoops.”
