A NEW kitchen area has been created at a nursery in Kingswood following two years of fundraising.

The facility at the Park Neighbourhood Nursery, in Hollow Road, is being used to help children understand the importance of healthy eating and nutrition.

Staff at the not-for-profit nursery, which is a registered charity, raised the money for the kitchen by holding raffles, cake sales and selling tickets to Christmas performances. The money raised has paid for a cooker and hob, shelves, fridge and more.

A spokeswoman for the nursery said: "The kitchen enables all of the children including our youngest to develop their creative, maths, science and literacy skills whilst developing an understanding of nutritional values including healthy eating."
