Halesowen Tn 2 Swindon Supermarine 4: Steve Cook and Alan Griffin scored twice each in a game of three penalties at The Grove.

The win over one of their close rivals pushed Supermarine up to second place in the table four points behind leaders Farnborough

Former Forest Green Rovers striker Mark Danks gave Halesowen the lead with a 19th minute penalty but Griffin levelled the scores five minutes later.

Cook headed home a long throw in to give Supermarine and interval lead and it was 3-1 on the hour when the ex-Cheltenham Town youth teamer netted his second.

Halesowen goalkeeper Nick Buffey was sent off after bringing down Ashley Edenborough in the box and although Cook's spot kick was saved by stand in goalkeeper and ex-Spurs midfielder Darren Caskey, Cook followed up to score. Supermarine went 4-1 ahead when Griffin completed his double.

A minute from time, Danks slotted home his second penalty of the game after Gavin Hoyte had been dragged down inside the area.

● Gloucester City may be leading scorers in the Southern League Premier Division, but a succession of missed chances cost them dear in a 1-0 home defeat to Brackley.

City had the better of the first half possession and could have gone in front on 11 minutes but Luke Ballinger could only pull his shot wide when well placed.

Leading scorer Alex Sykes then tried his luck from 30 yards but teenage keeper Tom Willshere did well to parry before dropping on the loose ball.

After Ballinger had again fired wide from inside the box, Brackley went in front.

Ashley Thomas made a mess of a clearance near half way, and Ben Mackey released Tom Winters, who raced away before finding the bottom corner from just inside the area.

Only a fine point blank save from Kevin Sawyer prevented Chris Harper from doubling the lead.

City kept up the pressure in the second half but Willshere dived bravely at the feet of Will Morford, and denied Sykes twice.

Sykes was convinced he had levelled deep into added time but the linesman ruled that his inswinging corner had not completely crossed the line before being headed away.
