Convoy from Bristol to Gaza
A six-vehicle convoy will leave Bristol for Gaza next week but not before parading around Broadmead tomorrow.
Bristol kebab-seller Sakir Yildirim, 40, will lead the convoy in a 44-tonne articulated lorry loaded with donated medical supplies for the stricken region.
Organisers have been busy gathering everything from wheelchairs to medicine but are appealing for soft toys and blankets from Evening Post readers.
Next Friday the convoy will head out on the 8,000-mile round-trip as part of an international journey organised by charity Viva Palestina.
The convoy has permission from the council to parade around Broadmead from 11am to 4pm tomorrow. There will also be musicians, street performers and a stall giving information on the project outside Tesco Metro on Union Street.
In true Bristol tradition the truck has been given a graffiti-style makeover with the familiar faces of Wallace and Gromit on one side.
